Art & Design Unit 2 Classical Architecture
In this small sketch book study I focussed on the use of mark making within drawing and the different effects it can create. I used a simple ball point pen to create these studies of Ian Murphy's work and a drawing from my own image, I used techniques such as cross hatching and continuous line which I then went on to use throughout this unit.
Art & Design Unit 2 Classical Architecture
With this piece I used one of my own appropriate images to create this large scale graphite drawing in the style of Ian Murphy. I used graphite, charcoal, and pencil to complete this drawing and made use of simple drawing techniques that I had previously mentioned in the image above. I thought this resulted in the drawing having a real sense of realism.
Art & Design Unit 2 Classical Architecture
This was the end result of my Multi Media Final Piece in my Unit 2 Exam of Classical Architecture. I used a variation of different materials such as; charcoal, graphite, emulsion, quink ink and fine liner. I used one of my images that I had taken in Paris as I thought the photographs of the architecture there was highly appropriate for this unit. Ian Murphy was a major influence throughout this unit and I had learnt to experiment with his ways of working with multi media to create realistic outcomes.
Photography Unit 2- Multiple Images
I overlaid two shots together to create this outcome and blended the tones of the two separate images in such a way so that they merged together as one whole image. I like the depth of this
shot and the contrast created between the dull figure and the lit up shot of
the Eiffel Tower, I thought this complimented the two shots well.
In my brief 'Multiple Images' I decided to experiment with overlaying in photoshop. This was one of my favourite outcomes due to the overlaying of the natural forms of the forest following the structures of the portraits. This is my favourite shot
as the edges of the silhouettes are so define and the light that comes through
the trees in my shots works really well when layering them over my figures.
Photography Unit 3- Moments
For my Unit 3 project I chose the brief 'Moments'. This being anything from a moment you share with a group of people such as friends or family, to a moment or 'inner moment' you share with yourself. This shot I had taken focussed on the inner moments you have with yourself and the moods you can experience in it. I decided to experiment a lot with mark making on photoshop in this shoot to give the impression of an ora and to give the message that there is more to what meets the eye. I found that in this shot the subtle lines give the impression of calmness and not the seriousness the figure himself shows.
Photography Unit 3- Moments
I edited this shot in photoshop and added the lines to portray the figures imagination and the mood she is experiencing in this very moment. Because of the way the lines curve and swirl in a playful way I feel that it reflects a happiness within the person, how ever if you where to observe this shot without the illustration added you would probably see the persons mood as serious and more contemplaiting.
Photography Unit 3- Moments
This shot I had taken portrays the anger and aggression the women is feeling due to the aggressive marks and lines I had made using photoshop. I wanted the shot to come across that the figure was being overwhelmed by her emotions and feelings in the shot and she can't escape.
Photography Unit 3- Moments
This shot is one of my favourite outcomes as the expression on the figures face is ridged and shows an element of tension, yet the illustration surrounding him shows a more flexible and relaxed mood.
Critical studie page of Rosie Sanders, use of stitching, water colour, and artists images.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
Here is a study I carried out of a section of one of Rosie Sanders paintings. I used watered down acrylic to create this painting and only focused on a small area of the original piece as the patterns and colours seemed to stand out a lot more and make it more abstract.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
Small studies of Rosie Sanders paintings. Here I used water colour and pencil and experimented with scale and detail within the natural forms of the flowers.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
I decided to create a critical study of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting as I felt that I was leaning towards a more abstract approach in this unit and felt that O'Keeffe was best suited to take inspiration from. I used acrylic paint to complete this and felt the result was effective due to the vibrant tones and the way the paint blended smoothly to make these contrasting tones.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
Here is another Georgia O'Keeffe study, I thought I would experiment with the different tones and use of colour to see which would result best, the cooler or warmer colours. I used acrylic paints in this study as well to achieve a greater depth of vibrance.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
Here are two water colour/acrylic studies from my own pictures in the style of O'Keefee, I took a more abstract approach when taking my photographs as I thought they gave a more striking look. I chose to use a warm toned colour scheme as I felt that it made the paintings a lot more vibrant.
Art & Design Unit 3-Natural Forms
Here is a mock up paining for my final peice from one of my own images taken in the style of O'Keeffe as the composition is very abstract and has a similar structure to the natural forms she usually paints. However even though it was very much influenced from O'Keeffe I wanted to reflect my critical studio of Rosie Sanders and keep the intricate details of the natural form.
Young Artists In Tuscany- Landscape
Here are a few studies I did of the landscapes in Tuscany, I experimented with many different techniques using a small fine liner pen, these techniques being continuous line drawings, mark making, wrong hand technique, and blind drawing.
Young Artists In Tuscany- Landscape
Here are a few multi media studies I made of the landscapes in Tuscany. I used materials such as; fine liner, pencil, indian ink, quink ink, brown pen, water and white emulsion. I continued to use these techniques I was experimenting with in my previous landscape drawings to suggest sections of the landscape, resulting in small detailed outcomes.
Young Artists In Tuscany- Landscape
A critical studie page I created during a day out in Siena visiting the famous paintings by Duccio and Simone Martini, and also observing the surrounding architecture and culture of Siena.
Young Artists In Tuscany- Landscape
Water colour paintings of the Tuscany Landscapes. I used materials such as water colour, pencil, pen and fine line to complete these. I used techniques that helped suggest the landscape and add intricate detail to small elements such as crops, trees and roads. All of these landscape studies gave me a great chance to experience new ways of creating things and allowed me to add part of my unique flare into my work.
